Grundy is a city in Buchanan County in the US state of Virginia and is also a county seat . It is named after the former Justice Minister Felix Grundy .

The city is famous for its educational institutions and the resulting economic resurgence of the region.

During the Civil War , the village at that time served as a stop for the troops of the northern states on the way to the Battle of Saltville .
