Group twenty ten
Gruppe Zwanzig Zehn , is an international group of ten artists from all areas of the visual arts , which was founded in 2010 in Munich .
History and work
The group's first experiment was to examine the portrait under the manifesto “The I in the Other”. The artists set themselves the task of creating a self-portrait and the portraits of the nine others. An experiment in sculpture , drawing , painting , photo and video art , shadow images and installation , which is considered to be unique in the art-historical context. The result is a hundred portraits that could not be more different in their complexity. They are carried in a virtuoso manner by the personality of each individual. They show how the artist perceives himself, but also the specifics of his counterpart today, and how he focuses on the essentials from an individual perspective. In the variety of approaches one can assign these works to New Realism and Fantastic Realism , others again to Abstract Expressionism but also to Surrealism . The bundle was presented for the first time in 2011 in Munich in the Künstlerhaus am Lenbachplatz , as well as in the Municipal Museum in the care palace in Schrobenhausen , the birthplace of Franz von Lenbach . Since then it has mostly been on an exhibition tour in Germany and will also be exhibited in the international art world in the future. The Twenty Ten Group is continuously working on further issues.
