Guava Island is an American musical film . It was directed by Hiro Murai and written by Stephen Glover . The main roles are played by Donald Glover and Rihanna . The film was presented and shown for the first time at the Coachella Festival on April 11, 2019 in America. On April 13, the film was released by Amazon Studios on Amazon Prime . The film was also broadcast 18 hours after the premiere via Coachella Stream on YouTube . Donald Glover was one of the headliners at the Coachella Festival.

Deni Maroon, a musician, lives with his girlfriend Kofi on the tropical island of Guava. There is a brutal group there, the paramilitary Red Cargo . Kofi works in a factory that is represented as a sweatshop , Deni secretly organizes a music festival , which Red Cargo rejects. The concert evening would delay the production of the particularly valuable blue silk, which is an important source of income for the group. The ruler of the paramilitary forces, Red , has Deni kidnapped and threatens violence if a concert takes place.

On the evening of the event, Red discovers that all of his workers have left the production facility to listen to Denis's music. An assassin shoots Deni.
