Guglielmo de Marcillat
Guglielmo de Marcillat (* 1467/1470 in La Châtre in what is now the Indre department (France); † 1529 in Arezzo ), also Guillaume de Pierre de Marcillat , was an Italian glass painter of French origin and the first teacher of Giorgio Vasari , who gave him his biography sets a detailed monument.
Numerous stained glass windows have been preserved from him in Cortona , Arezzo and Florence . But he also tried his hand at wall painting and frescoed four vaulted ceilings in Arezzo Cathedral . In the Gemäldegalerie of Berlin there is the oil painting “The dispute of church teachers about the immaculate conception”, which is considered one of two surviving oil paintings, the second is in Chiusi della Verna .
