Location of Chiusi della Verna in the province of Arezzo

The place extends over about 102 km² . It is located about 25 km north of Arezzo and 60 km east of Florence in the Casentino mountain valley . There is the southern end of a nature reserve with many wooded heights and mountains. Immediately above the village is the La Verna monastery , a Franciscan monastery that was built over the cave in which St. Francis of Assisi received his stigmata .

The districts include Biforco, Compito, Corezzo, Corsalone, Dama, Case Nuove, Frassineta, Gargiano, Giampereta, La Beccia, La Rocca, La Verna, Rimbocchi, Sarna, Val della Meta, Vallebona and Vezzano.

The neighboring municipalities are Bagno di Romagna (FC) , Bibbiena , Caprese Michelangelo , Castel Focognano , Chitignano , Pieve Santo Stefano , Poppi , Subbiano and Verghereto (FC).
