The Apostolic Vicariate of Camiri ( lat. : Apostolicus Vicariatus Cuevensis ) is one in Bolivia situated Roman Catholic Apostolic Vicariate with headquarters in Camiri .
history
The Apostolic Vicariate Camiri, located in southeastern Bolivia, was founded on May 22, 1919 by Pope Benedict XV. established with the decree Optimo sane Consilio from cession of territory of the diocese Santa Cruz de la Sierra as Apostolic Vicariate Chaco . It was handed over to the Tuscan Friars Minor , who still look after it today. On February 12, 1925, the Vicariate Apostolic Chaco gave parts of its territory to the establishment of the Apostolic Prefecture Pilcomayo .
On February 8, 1951, the name of the Apostolic Vicariate Chaco was changed to Apostolic Vicariate Cuevo . The Apostolic Vicariate Cuevo changed its name on March 29, 2003 to Apostolic Vicariate Camiri . The Vicariate is in the territory of the Mission Province of St. Anthony in Bolivia, with whom the Tuscan Order Province cooperates.
The vicariate covers an area of 100,000 km² and is mainly inhabited by the Guaraní tribes as well as mestizos and small groups from the indigenous tribes of the Quechua , Mataco , Toba , Ayoreo and Tapieté .
