Guido Adler (born September 22, 1946 in Heidelberg ) is a German medic .

Life

Guido Adler studied medicine and received his doctorate in 1977, Dr. med. , In 1984 he completed his habilitation. His appointment as a specialist in internal medicine was followed in 1986 by an appointment to a professorship at the University of Marburg and then the sub-area designation for gastroenterology .

In 1991 he took over a professorship for internal medicine at the University of Ulm and became medical director of the clinic for internal medicine ( gastroenterology , endocrinology , metabolism , nutritional sciences , nephrology ). In Ulm, he was speaker of the Collaborative Research Center 518 “Inflammation, Regeneration and Transformation in the Pancreas” for twelve years .

After six years in office as Dean of the Medical Faculty, Adler was Deputy Chief Medical Director of the Ulm University Hospital from 1999 to 2010 and, since 2003, Vice President for Medicine of the University of Ulm. From 1996 he was a member and from 2004 to 2012 chairman of the health research council at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research . From 2001 to 2006 he was a member of the supervisory board of the University Hospital Marburg. In 2005 he was appointed to the Scientific Advisory Board of the Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care (IQWiG) (until 2013). He has been a member of the supervisory board of Leipzig University Hospital since 2008 and took over its chairmanship in 2019. Adler was a member of the Austrian Science Council from 2010 to 2016 . In 2010 he was President of the German Society for Digestive and Metabolic Diseases (DGVS). From October 2010 to May 2012 he was full-time Chairman of the Board and Medical Director of the University Medical Center at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz .

From June 16, 2012 to May 24, 2017, Guido Adler was Senior Medical Director and Chairman of the Board of Management of Heidelberg University Hospital . Guido Adler is founding vice dean of the Medical Faculty of the University of Augsburg .
