Guido Philipp Kilian Karcher (born July 8, 1844 in Saarbrücken , † December 27, 1905 in Wiesbaden ) was a German naval officer , most recently an admiral .

Guido Karcher was the eldest son of the Saarbrücken regional court president Philipp Gustav Karcher and Ernestine Melinka Böcking. Karcher joined the Prussian Navy in 1859 and became a cadet in 1861 . From 1862 to 1864 he made a trip to East Asia on the Gazelle and in 1865 became a second lieutenant at sea. In 1869 Karcher was sent to the opening of the Suez Canal with the corvette Elisabeth . From 1873 to 1875 he was chief officer of the Arcona school ship . In 1876 he was promoted to corvette captain and commanded to the admiralty . Between 1881 and 1883 he commanded the corvette Carola during a cruise in the South Seas . He was then promoted to sea captain and served another year at the Admiralty. In 1884 he was given command of the cruiser frigate SMS Bismarck and participated in the fighting in Cameroon as commander of the squadron's landing forces . From 1885 to 1888 he was chief shipyard director of the Kaiserliche Werft in Wilhelmshaven and then, after being promoted to rear admiral , was chief of staff of the admiralty until January 1892. He then took command of the 2nd  division of the maneuvering fleet. In 1893 he was appointed director of the naval department in the Reichsmarineamt and at the same time became deputy agent in the Federal Council .

In 1895 Karcher was appointed Vice Admiral and in 1896 Chief of the North Sea Naval Station . After Karcher was promoted to admiral on June 26, 1899, he was put on the disposition on September 18, 1899 .

He was the bearer of diamonds for the Red Eagle Order, 1st class. No children are known from Guido Karcher's marriage to Carolina Julia Schmidtborn in 1879.
