Guillaume Laurant (born November 22, 1961 in Saint-Quentin , Département Aisne ) is a French screenwriter .

Career

Guillaume Laurant was born in Saint-Quentin in 1961. His film career began in 1995 when he wrote dialogues for the fantasy film The City of Lost Children . This was the first collaboration with the film director Jean-Pierre Jeunet . Laurant wrote the screenplay for the feature film The Fabulous World of Amélie , which was released in 2001, and was nominated for an Oscar for his artistic achievements at the 2002 Academy Awards with Jeunet in the category "Best Original Screenplay" . At the British Academy Film Awards 2002 he received the award in the same category. In 2004, the two literary adaptations Mathilde - Eine große Liebe and Im Spiegel des Böse were published, for which he wrote the scripts. At Micmac's Works - We Own Paris! and The Card of My Dreams , Laurant was responsible for the script and Jeunet for the film implementation.

In addition to the frequent collaboration with Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Laurant also frequently worked on the scripts by the director Jean-Pierre Améris .

In 2018, like Jeunet, he was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.

Private

In 2003 he married actress Sandrine Bonnaire , with whom he has a daughter.
