Gul Haneef

Gul Haneef (born February 20, 1941 in Balochistan ) is a former Pakistani diplomat .

Life

Gul Haneef is married and has three children, Masters, and joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan in 1965. From 1968 to 1970 he was employed in Bern . From 1970 to 1972 he was employed in Rio de Janeiro and was temporarily business agent in Brasília . From 1972 to 1974 he was employed in Ankara . From 1978 to 1981 he was employed in Brussels. From 1981 to 1984 he was employed in Dhaka . From 1974 to 1978 he was director of a department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1984 to 1986 he was Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

From 1986 to 1989 he was ambassador to Doha , Qatar . From 1989 to 1992 he was ambassador to Cairo . From 1992 to 1996 he was Additional Secretary, (permanent state secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs). From 1996 to May 1997 he was ambassador to Canberra . From May 1997 to 2001 he was ambassador to Berlin . From 2001 to 2005 was appointed to the Federal Public Service Commission . From 2009 to May 31, 2011 he was ambassador to Lisbon . He was retired on May 31, 2011 . Since June 1, 2011, he has chaired The Institute of Strategic Studies in Islamabad .
