Gunter Jess (born October 28, 1951 in Pinnow near Anklam ) is a German biochemist and politician ( AfD , previously CDU and Eastern CDU ). In the state elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 2016 , he was elected to the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania via the state list .

Life

Jess studied process chemistry at the Ernst Moritz Arndt University in Greifswald from 1970 to 1974 and received an external doctorate in 1984 as a Dr. rer. nat. PhD in biochemistry. He has been working in the healthcare sector since 1974. From 1974 to 1984 he was a research assistant at the Rostock District Hygiene Institute in Greifswald and from 1984 to 1991 research assistant at the Institute for Biochemistry at the Ernst Moritz Arndt University. From 1990 to 1991 he was also the representative of the scientific assistants in the management committee of the University Hospital (Dean's Council) of the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University before he took over the department management at the University Hospital Greifswald in 1991 . From 2006 he was involved in the establishment and management of the current revision & compliance department at the University Medical Center Greifswald.

Gunter Jess from 1977 to 1990 member of Block Party East CDU and from 1990 to the end of 2011 a member of the CDU . In 1989/1990 he was a member of the committee of inquiry into the dissolution of the state security of the GDR and from 1993 to 2001 a member of the citizenship of the Hanseatic City of Greifswald (CDU).

He joined the AfD in February 2013 and was a co-founder of the state association and the Vorpommern-Greifswald district association of the AfD. From 2013 to 2014 he was an assessor on the AfD's state board. Since 2015 he has been a member of the AfD in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district council. As a member of the district council, he supported an application by the right-wing extremist NPD that the district should ask the Protestant parish of Wolgast not to grant a refugee from Mali church asylum . Jess justified this with the fact that the admission by the church was a "violation of law", church asylum does not exist legally.

In the state elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 2016 , he was elected to the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania via the state list of the AfD .

Jess has been chairman of the state finance committee since January 2018.

Private

Gunter Jess is married and has three grown children. He lives in Greifswald .
