Gunther Hatzsch

Eugen Gunther Hatzsch (born April 28, 1941 in Freiberg ) is a German teacher ( chemistry , biology ) and politician ( SPD ) as well as a former member of the Saxon state parliament .

Life

Gunther Hatzsch attended the Extended High School (EOS) in Freiberg and graduated from high school there in 1959. From 1959 to 1963 he studied at the University of Leipzig . Then Hatzsch worked as a specialist teacher for biology and chemistry. After the state examination in 1963, he taught for a year in Freiberg and then from 1964 to June 1990 in Leipzig .

From July 1990 Gunther Hatzsch was department head for the Abitur at the Leipzig district administration in the education department.

Hatzsch is Protestant, married and has two children.

He was elected as the only direct SPD candidate in his constituency of Leipzig 4 in the state parliament of Saxony . This was also attributed to the fact that he did not have a PDS opponent.

Until 1989 he did not belong to any political party. When the SDP or SPD was founded in Saxony , Hatzsch decided in December 1989 to join. Since October 1990 (four electoral terms) he has been an elected member of the SPD parliamentary group. In the first three electoral terms he was elected via the state list, in the 4th electoral period via constituency 28 (Leipzig 4). In the state parliament, Hatzsch was a member of the Committee for School, Youth and Sport in the 1st to 3rd electoral period (since the 3rd WP Committee for School and Sport) and in the 4th electoral period a member of the Committee for Science and University, Culture and Media .

Together with twelve other SPD MPs, he represented the SPD Saxony in the fourth legislative period. From January 1990 Hatzsch was head of the Working Group for Social Democrats in Education (AfB) in Leipzig. In March 1990 he was a member of the Leipzig district committee and in April 1990 a member of the Saxony-West district committee of the SPD. From April 1990 Hatzsch was chairman of the AfB. Between June 1990 and April 2005 he was state chairman of the Working Group for Education of the SPD. From 1992 to 1994 and from 1998 to 2004 he was deputy chairman of the Leipzig-Borna sub-district. Between May 1992 and November 2004 he was a member of the SPD state executive committee of the Saxony SPD. From 2004 to 2009 Gunther Hatzsch was 3rd Vice President of the Saxon State Parliament. He was the spokesman for cultural and media policy of the SPD parliamentary group in the Saxon state parliament. Since 2005 he has been chairman of the Deutsche Gesellschaft e. V. and since 2006 deputy state chairman of the Volksbund Deutscher Kriegsgräberfürsorge e. V.

In the state elections in 2009 , Hatzsch no longer stood as a candidate.

On May 26, 2001 he was awarded the Saxon Constitutional Medal by Landtag President Erich Iltgen .
