Gunther Holtorf (born July 4, 1937 in Göttingen ) is a former German world traveler from Gollenshausen am Chiemsee .

Life

Between December 19, 1988 and October 18, 2014 - together with his wife Christine until 2010 - the former Lufthansa aviation agent and managing director of Hapag-Lloyd Flug traveled to all of them with "Otto", a converted blue Mercedes-Benz 300 GD built in 1988 Continents. He covered almost 900,000 km and traveled to 215 countries - from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe , from Tierra del Fuego to Mount Everest in Tibet , from Eritrea to Vanuatu and thus achieved an entry in the Guinness Book of Records. The vehicle has been in the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart-Untertürkheim since October 21, 2014 .
