Gustáv Maršall-Petrovský

Gustáv Maršall-Petrovský (born March 23, 1862 in Backi Petrovac , Serbia, † June 15, 1916 in Chicago , USA) was a Slovak writer.

Life

Gustáv Maršall-Petrovský, the son of a tanner, attended primary schools in Novi Sad in Serbia and in Szarvas, which is now in Hungary . He later studied law in Prešov , where he was excluded from visiting because of alleged conspiracy to join Pan-Slavism . He then studied medicine in Vienna from 1882 to 1890. He was also active in the Slovak academic association Tatran . Due to political conflicts, he was unable to complete his studies and emigrated to the United States , where he worked as a writer and journalist until his death.

He wrote a two-part novel about the Slovak national hero Juraj Jánošík .
