Gustav Fischer (political scientist)

Gustav Fischer (born November 29, 1803 in Buttstädt , Thuringia , † March 4, 1868 in Jena ) was a German political scientist . He was a member of the Frankfurt National Assembly .

Life

Fischer initially received home tuition and then attended high school in Weimar. From 1822 to 1825 he studied law , political science and history at the University of Jena . There he joined the Jena fraternity in 1822 . Meanwhile, at the Georg-August University Göttingen , doctorate he 1830 in Jena to the Dr. phil. In 1834 he was appointed professor of political science. In 1848 he was a co-founder of the Political Science Institute at the University of Jena.

In the German Revolution of 1848/49 he represented the constituency of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach in the Paulskirche parliament . He belonged to the casino (parliamentary group) and sat on the implementation committee and the rules of procedure , in the latter as vice chairman. In 1849 he took part in the Gotha post-parliament . In 1850 he was a member of the Volkshaus of the Erfurt Union Parliament .
