Gustav Heller (born May 17, 1878 in Stuttgart , † August 21, 1921 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Heller was born the son of a Kübler. After attending elementary school, he completed an apprenticeship as a lathe operator and worked as a metal lathe operator and mechanic until 1910. In addition, he attended the arts and crafts school for four years. As a member of the SPD, he was also a party and trade union functionary in Offenbach am Main . From 1910 to 1915 he worked as a travel agent (cooperative official) at the consumer cooperative in Velbert , where he became chairman of the branch of the German Metalworkers' Association . In March 1915 he was called up for military service and was subsequently engaged as a worker in the armaments industry, initially in Düsseldorf and from March 1917 in Berlin.

During the November Revolution, Heller was a member of the Twelve Commission of Social Democratic shop stewards in Berlin and from November 10 to December 23, 1918 a member of the Berlin Executive Council . From December 1918 to April 1919 he was a member of the Central Council of the German Socialist Republic . After the formation of Greater Berlin in 1920 he was a district councilor for administrative district II ( Tiergarten ) until his death .

Heller was a member of the Prussian state constituent assembly from 1919 to 1921 and was elected as a member of the Prussian state parliament in February 1921 , to which he belonged until his death. In parliament he represented constituency 2 (Berlin). From 1919 to August 1921 he was secretary of the social democratic parliamentary group.
