Gustav Adolf Schenck zu Schweinsberg
Gustav Adolf Schenck zu Schweinsberg , also Gustolf (born April 24, 1843 in Sterbfritz ; † October 16, 1909 in Schweinsberg ) was a German diplomat . He came from the Hessian nobility.
origin
His parents were the forester Karl Friedrich Franz Rudolf Schenck zu Schweinsberg (born April 15, 1807, † December 7, 1862) and his first wife Charlotte Elise Mathilde Jungk († May 19, 1853).
Life
During his studies in 1862 he became a member of the Allemannia Heidelberg fraternity . In 1880 he came to Madrid as counselor of the legation and was transferred to Santiago de Chile as Minister-Resident in 1881. 1886–1893 Gustav Adolf Schenck zu Schweinsberg was envoy of the German Empire in Tehran, 1893–1896 in Beijing , 1898–1899 envoy in Tangier ( Morocco ). On these two stations he helped to open the country to European influences.
In 1893 he agreed to work for the AG Vulcan Stettin at Chinese government agencies . In a letter dated November 23, 1894, Schenck suggested to Schweinsberg to acquire Kiautschou .
