Gustav Schimmelpfeng

Gustav Schimmelpfeng (born March 30, 1829 in Hersfeld , † December 6, 1900 in Blankenburg (Harz) ) was a German teacher and headmaster .

Life

Gustav Schimmelpfeng completed his school education in his hometown before he attended the universities in Göttingen and Marburg from 1847 . In 1851 he accepted a position as a teacher in Cassel .

In 1857 Schimmelpfeng submitted his inaugural dissertation in Latin in Marburg under the title De Brasidae Spartani rebus gestis atque ingenio . From 1867 he worked - with the title of professor - in Schulpforte at the State School Pforta before he took over the management of the Royal Monastery School in Ilfeld as director in 1870 .

Schimmelpfeng last worked as a secret councilor in Blankenburg in the Harz region . After his death, the Hildesheim senior teacher at the Royal High School Andreaneum published a second edition of Schimmelpfeng's work The Poems of Q. Horatius Flaccus in 1904 .
