Gustav Schläger
Gustav Hermann Theodor Brinkama Schläger (born July 7, 1869 in Neisse , † November 30, 1930 ) was a German teacher and vegetarian .
The son of Major Carl Gustav Wilhelm Schläger and his wife Friederike, b. Brinkama, graduated from Lyzeum I in Hanover in 1889 , studied theology and passed the first and second theological exams in Hanover in 1893 and the second in 1896. He also passed exams for middle school teachers and principals. In November 1902 he was in Erlangen with a thesis on Johann Baptist Grasers Divinitätsprinzip doctorate .
From 1897 to 1899 he was a middle school teacher in Lehrte , and then until 1901 rector of the Lemgo citizen school . After he had passed the examination for teaching at secondary schools in April 1902, he was briefly a representative at the grammar school in Goslar and then an assistant teacher at the Matthias Claudius grammar school in Wandsbek. From 1903 he was a senior teacher at the Realschule in Celle and in 1908 switched to the Oberrealschule II i. E. to Kassel.
From 1915 to 1930 he was chairman of the German Vegetarian Association and published the members' magazine Vegetarian Warte . He gathered inspiration for vegetarianism in antiquity, which the philologist Johannes Haußleiter (* 1893) published in 1935. His successor on the board was Bruno Wolff (1931–1935).
