from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gustav Schlimbach (born November 13, 1818 in Bad Königshofen , † 1887 in Speyer ) was a German organ builder .

Life

Gustav Schlimbach came in 1844 to Speyer and married there in 1846. By 1887 he built organs with slider chests from the 1860s cone chests . He founded a trading business with musical instruments in Heidelberg in 1887, with which he went into bankruptcy through no fault of his own . His nephew Martin Joseph Schlimbach saved the company through financial participation. His eldest son Friedrich (1848–1877) died prematurely, the second son Hermann (* 1850) and his father could not ensure the continuation of the workshop and probably emigrated to Lucerne . The company was continued under CO Rees & Co. (Schlimbach's successor) .
