history
In 1902 Gustav Wahler founded a metal spinning company in Pforzheim . This moved to the headquarters in Esslingen am Neckar in 1911. As early as 1928, bellows thermostats were being mass-produced for the automotive industry. In 1967, another location was opened in Oberboihingen , not far away . With this, Wahler began to expand and in 1973 founded the first subsidiary abroad in Brazil . At the beginning of the 1980s, the series production of exhaust gas recirculation lines began and in 1994 the series production of exhaust gas recirculation valves began. In the late 1990s, Wahler expanded again and opened offices in Argentina and North America. In the following year, the company started series production of electrically heated thermostats.
In December 2013, the US automotive supplier BorgWarner , based in Auburn Hills , Michigan , announced that it had acquired all shares in Gustav Wahler GmbH u. Co. KG will take over. The takeover took place on April 1, 2014. The name Wahler is to be retained as a product brand in the company.
Products
The automotive supplier manufactures components for internal combustion engines. Wahler's thermostats specifically regulate the temperature of cooling circuits (such as fuel, water, oil or air). Valves and flaps, as components of exhaust gas recirculation systems, control the route and amount of the exhaust gas flow . The company's lines establish connections on the engine for the transport of coolants and lubricants or hot exhaust gases.
