Gustavo Pedro Echaniz Conchez (born September 4, 1960 in San Nicolás de los Arroyos , Buenos Aires Province ) is a former Argentinian football player on the position of a striker .

career

Echaniz began his professional career in 1981 with the Chacarita Juniors , with whom he won the championship of the third division in the same year and managed to return to the second division.

In 1983 he played for Club Atlético Huracán for the first time in the top division of Argentina and was discovered after just a few months by a talent scout from the Mexican first division club Club América and brought to Mexico for the 1983/84 season , where he immediately won the championship with his new club won.

Although Echaniz was the Americanistas' most successful goalscorer with 13 goals that season, he was unable to convince those responsible and did not receive a new contract. That may also have been due to the fact that a new talent was just developing in the club in the form of Carlos Hermosillo , who, as a Mexican, quickly became the fans' favorite.

Echaniz spent the next year and a half at America's league rivals Puebla FC before returning to Argentina in early 1986 to play for Club Atlético San Lorenzo de Almagro . He was then obliged by the Cobras Querétaro , with whom he was relegated to the then second-rate Segunda División at the end of the 1986/87 season.

After this failure, he ended his playing career in Mexico and returned to Argentina, where he was promoted to the first division in the 1988/89 season with Club Unión de Santa Fe .

For the 1990/91 season he was signed by VSE St. Pölten , but could not convince there and returned after only one season to his home country, where he was still for the Club Atlético Colón de Santa Fe , the Club Almirante Brown and the All Boys played before retiring from playing in 1993-94.

Echaniz has been coaching lower-class clubs in Argentina for years and was most recently employed at Club Atlético Huracán, a namesake of the better-known club from the capital Buenos Aires based in Ingeniero White .
