The Good Flegessen is a former farm in Flegessen , a district of Bad Munder am Deister in the Hamelin-Pyrmont district in Lower Saxony . The estate, which was built around the 13th century, is now used as a farm and farm café.

description

The manor consists of the manor house and several agricultural buildings arranged in a triangle. The manor house was built at the end of the 18th century on the spot where the first fortified house from the 14th or 15th century was located in the village . The manor house, which was built in the 18th century, was built by Jobst Wilhelm Freiherr von Kipe, who had inherited the estate from his father. The alliance coat of arms of those of Kipe and those of Steinberg is on the manor house and on Hasperde Castle.

history

The origins of the estate go back to the 13th century, when the Bonifatiusstift Hameln owned land in Flegessen, which at that time belonged to the Principality of Calenberg . Since the monastery was sold to the Bishop of Minden in 1229 , the estate and the town of Flegessen also belonged to the new landlord. After another sale in 1275, Barsinghausen Abbey became the new owner of the estate and place. In the 14th century the estate belonged to various noble families. In 1427 it was sold to the Wittenburg monastery . The term Mönchshof developed for the estate, as monks and lay brothers of the monastery cultivated the estate's lands. In 1462 land consolidation was carried out.

When the Brunswick Duke Heinrich Julius of Brunswick and Lüneburg claimed the Wittenburg Monastery in 1580 , the estate also passed to him. He gave it to his wife Elisabeth of Denmark . After the Duke's death in 1613, Elisabeth sold the estate to the lawyer Lorenz Berkelmann, who was in her service. Bodo Wilhelm Freiherr von Kipe (1644–1700) acquired the Hasperde and Flegessen castles on February 5, 1675 .

Until 1805 the estate was owned by the von Kipe and von Steinberg families. In 1869 Otto I, Baron von Hake , became the owner, later the estate was passed on to his son Otto II. From 1892 the estate was leased to Ludwig Werner, whose son of the same name bought the estate in 1930. Currently (2015) the estate is owned by the third generation of the Werner family, who leased it in 1997. In 2006, a courtyard café was set up in the manor house and the adjacent former stable building, which is also used for cultural events. The café is run by the village community from Flegessen, which has received several awards for its strong volunteer work.
