Originally Malatiná was a subject village in the territory of the old Liptov castle , later the village was owned by the Kubínyi , Szentannay , Bobrovnícky and Dobák families . The part of the place founded according to Wallachian law belonged to the dominion of the Arwaburg . In 1626 there were around 200 inhabitants in Malatiná, but in the 17th and early 18th centuries Malatiná lost its inhabitants due to the Kuruc uprisings and so-called “frozen years”. In 1715 the village had 180 inhabitants, who were mainly employed as farmers. At the beginning of the 19th century there was a brief iron ore mining operation.
The place in Arwa County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then became part of Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
