history

New Evangelical Church

It was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1363 as Kralowenen , it was created at an important crossroads of trade routes on the border of the Turz , Arwa and Liptau counties . In 1420 Kraľovany was part of the rulership of the Arwaburg and for centuries was a fishing village and a landing stage for rafts. During the rule of the Thurzo family , there was a toll station and a profitable restaurant here. In 1625 the village had 14 families and around 70 residents. In 1813, a flood caused great damage in the place. In 1828 there were 59 houses and 416 inhabitants. The importance of the place increased at the end of the 19th century: After there had been a train station on the main line of the Kaschau-Oderberg Railway since 1871 , a branch towards Oravský Podzámok was added in 1898 , which was later extended to what was then Galicia .

The place in Arwa County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then became part of Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. After 1918 there was a saw, a smithy and a quarry in Kraľovany. The community was electrified in the interwar period. In 1944 and 1945 the area was the scene of heavy fighting, first shortly before and after the outbreak of the Slovak National Uprising and again in the spring of 1945, before Czechoslovak troops were able to liberate the place from the Wehrmacht.
