The longest valley is the Ľubochnianka valley (Slovak Ľubochnianska dolina ) with 25 kilometers.
About 90 percent of the mountains are covered by forests. Except for an area on the Smrekovica ridge, the ridges in the northern part of the mountain range are forested. It is mainly beech and spruce stands . But there are also a large number of yew trees in this mountain range.
The valleys leading to the west show karst features (for example the Gaderská dolina ).
