history

Medieval history is more connected to the Ľubochňa valley, in 1287 the Ľubochnianka brook is mentioned in a document . A glassworks was built in the valley as early as the 16th century, but it was only mentioned with certainty in 1629. Two sawmills owned by the Likava castle rulers were also active during this period, but apart from these facilities there was only an inn and a few houses. A place called Ľubochňa is first mentioned in 1808, the inhabitants of which were mostly engaged in forestry. At the beginning of the 19th century a hammer forge was founded with a forge for processing pig iron. In 1882 it was annexed to the neighboring municipality of Hubová and only became an independent municipality again in 1951.

A health resort was established here at the end of the 19th century. The 3ubochňa Electric Forest Railway was built here in 1903–1904 to facilitate the export of timber from the Ľubochňa Valley. Operations ceased in 1966.

Until 1918 the place was in Liptov County within the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia .
