Lúčky (Hungarian Lucski ) is a municipality in the Okres Ružomberok in Slovakia . The spa is located in the Chočské vrchy mountains northeast of Ružomberok .
geography
The village lies in a narrow valley that is only open to the south - to the Liptov basin. Lúčky's local mountain is Veľký Choč (1608 m above sea level). The valley is bordered laterally by the mountains Plieška (977 m above sea level, north-northeast) and Smrekov (1024 m above sea level, west).
The village is historically and divided into two parts by its location, the lower actual village and the health resort above (Lúčky-kúpele). The natural boundary between the two parts is a waterfall and a travertine .
Attractions
There is a waterfall in the middle of the village. It is 12 m high and has several small basins and cave-like decorations at the bottom. These are formed by the minerals that flow into the creek through drains from the hot springs. The Lučanský Travertine is a rock formation that has formed in prehistoric times by the lime and acid-containing sources. Both objects have been declared a natural monument and are protected.
There are also several natural and artificial caves in the area. A 105 m long inaccessible cave - probably of natural origin, but enlarged by humans - is located in the rocky outcrops of Mount Plieska. According to local legends, it was supposed to serve as an escape tunnel to Madočany Castle.
The name of Plieška ( smooth ) goes back to the fact that it was forested in the 20th century through massive reforestation. The completely monotypical tree culture of spruce has created a high risk of fire and pests.
