Turík (Hungarian Turapatak - until 1902 Turik ) is a municipality in the Okres Ružomberok within the Žilinský kraj in northern Slovakia with 254 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

geography

The municipality is located in the western part of the Liptovská kotlina basin , a sub-unit of the Podtatranská kotlina below the Chočské vrchy mountains in the mouth of the Turícka dolina valley in the basin. The center of the village is at an altitude of 550  m nm and is ten kilometers from Ružomberok .

history

Turík was first mentioned in writing in 1278 as Turapataka and until 1848 belonged to the lower nobility, more precisely to the Turánszky family . In 1828 there were 37 houses and 368 inhabitants who were employed in agriculture.

Until 1918, the place in Liptov County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. From 1976 to 1990 Turík was part of the Lisková municipality .

The settlements Turíček (Hungarian Kistura ) and Vlčia Jama (Hungarian Farkasverem ) belong to the municipality ; the latter stood on the site of a former restaurant and mill.

According to the 2011 census, Turík had 226 inhabitants, all of them Slovaks. 178 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church and 17 residents supported the Evangelical Church AB. 24 residents were non-denominational and seven residents had no denomination.
