Liptovské Sliače (1927 to June 30, 2001 in Slovak "Sliače" - until 1927 "Tri Sliače" or "Nižný, Prostredný a Vyšný Sliač"; Hungarian Háromszlécs - older also Szlécs ) is a municipality in the central Slovakian Kraj Žilina . It is located at the western end of the Podtatranská kotlina at the foot of the Low Tatras on the left bank of the Váh , 8 km east of the town of Ružomberok .
It was first mentioned in a document in 1251 ( utraque Stelach ) and 1252 ( due ville Scelech ). Today's municipality is made up of three originally independent places called Nižný Sliač (Lower Sliač), Stredný Sliač (Middle Sliač) and Vyšný Sliač (Upper Sliač) (they still exist as parts of the municipality). The first two were mentioned in the 13th century, the last was founded in the 16th century and the three places already had a common name Tri Sliače .
A church from 1325 and a wooden bell tower are worth seeing.
