Hubová (until 1948 Slovak "Gombás"; Hungarian Gombás ) is a municipality in the northern central Slovakia of Slovakia with a population of 1,062 (December 31, 2019) that the ružomberok district , a circle of kraj Žilinský belongs.

geography

The community is located in the narrow Váh valley between the Great Fatra in the south and the Oravská vrchovina mountains in the north. The center of the village lies at an altitude of 449  m nm and is 10 kilometers west of Ružomberok (road distance).

history

Hubová was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1425 and belonged to the Likava Castle estate . In 1948 the place name, which was borrowed from the Hungarian word Gombák (= "mushroom"), was renamed the Slovak equivalent Hubová ( Huby = "mushroom") for reasons of national policy .

In 1951, the place Ľubochňa spun off after it was annexed to the municipality in 1882.
