history
In addition to finds from the Lusatian culture, the remains of the Pohanovo fortress built in Roman times are evidence of the pre-medieval settlement of the municipality. The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1430 and belonged to the dominion of Sučany . Until the first half of the 16th century the village changed hands frequently, and from 1541 to 1848 it was owned by the Nyáry family . In 1828 there are 52 houses and 326 inhabitants. In addition to agriculture, rafting, lime burning and forestry were other sources of income.
Until 1918, the place in Turz County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. After the Second World War, the municipality experienced an upswing due to the construction of the Krpeľany reservoir from 1949 to 1957.
