Nolčovo (Hungarian Nolcsó ) is a municipality in the north of Slovakia with 257 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to the Okres Martin , part of the Žilinský kraj and is part of the traditional Turiec landscape .
geography
The municipality is located in the north-eastern part of the torrent basin (Slovak: Turčianska kotlina ) at the foot of the Great Fatra and within sight of the Little Fatra , on a corridor terrace by the Ráztoka stream at its confluence with the Waag . The town center is at an altitude of 421 m nm and is 17 kilometers from Martin .
Neighboring municipalities are Krpeľany in the north and northeast, Ľubochňa in the east, Podhradie in the south and west and Turany in the northwest.
history
Nolčovo was first mentioned in writing as Nokczo in 1430 and was part of the territory of the nearby Sučany Castle . Until 1722 there was a toll station here, which was on an old road from the Turz to Liptau and further east.
In 1715 there were 18 households in Nolčovo, in 1785 the village had 41 houses and 319 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 36 houses and 309 inhabitants who were employed as shepherds and forest workers.
The place in Turz County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 , after which it became part of Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the census in 2011 lived in Nolčovo 245 inhabitants, of which 239 Slovaks as well as one Magyar , Russian and Czech . Three residents did not provide any information about their ethnicity .
187 residents supported the Evangelical Church AB, 29 residents the Roman Catholic Church and three residents of another denomination. 19 residents had no denomination and the denomination of seven residents was not determined.
