Trebostovo (Hungarian Kistorboszló - until 1907 Trebosztó ) is a municipality in northern Slovakia with 592 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to Okres Martin , part of the Žilinský kraj and is counted in the traditional Turiec landscape .
geography
The community is located at the transition from Turzbecken (Slovak Turčianska kotlina ) in the westernmost Little Fatra in the valley of Trebostovský Potok , in the catchment area of the Turiec . The town center is at an altitude of 470 m nm and is eight kilometers from Martin .
Neighboring municipalities are Bystrička and Turčiansky Peter in the north, Košťany nad Turcom in the east, Príbovce in the southwest, Trnovo in the south, Valča in the southwest and Kunerad in the west.
history
Trebostovo was first mentioned in writing in 1262 as Treboztou . In 1267 the village was owned by Peter von Hont's team, in 1488 Trebostovo fell into the territory of the Blatnica Castle , later it was the seat of the Trebostovo line of the Révay family , who owned local estates until the 20th century.
In 1715 there were 28 households in Trebostovo, in 1785 the village had 78 houses and 551 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 69 houses and 516 inhabitants who were employed as farmers and oil pressers.
The place in Turz County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 , after which it became part of Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, there were 487 residents in Trebostovo, 479 of whom were Slovaks and two Czechs . Six residents did not provide any information about their ethnicity .
193 residents confessed to the Evangelical Church AB, 188 residents to the Roman Catholic Church, two residents to the Evangelical Methodist Church and one resident to the Reformed Church and another denomination. 67 inhabitants were without a denomination and the denomination of 35 inhabitants was not determined.
