Turčianska Štiavnička (until 1949 in Slovak "Štiavnička"; in Hungarian Kisselmec - until 1907 Stiavnicska ) is a municipality in northern Slovakia with 940 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to Okres Martin , part of Žilinský kraj and is part of the traditional landscape Fall is counted.
geography
The municipality is located in the north-eastern part of the Turčianska kotlina basin at the foot of the Great Fatra , at the outlet of the Kantorský creek into the Waag valley . Accordingly, the 14 km² large municipal area includes the deforested hill country formed by sandstone and clay soil in the north and a mountainous part, in some places with reefs, in the south. The height in the municipality varies from 395 m nm to 1079 m nm. The town center is at an altitude of 430 m nm and is 12 kilometers away from Martin .
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1474 (other sources speak of 1477) as Sczewnicze as part of the estate of the nearby Sklabiňa Castle . The village has been closely allied with the Révay family since 1527, and the Újhelyi family joined them in the 17th century . In 1828 there are 96 houses and 660 inhabitants who were employed in agriculture, forestry and linen production.
