history

Seat of the municipal administration

A settlement of the Puchau culture stood in today's municipal area at the turn of the times .

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1489 as Rathkow and at that time belonged to the estate of the Révay family . Ratkovo was one of the smaller villages, for example in 1620 it only had three houses, which were then destroyed by floods. In 1785 the village had 14 houses and 88 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 15 houses and 92 inhabitants who were employed as farmers.

The place in Turz County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 , after which it became part of Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
