Príbovce (German Pribotz , Hungarian Pribóc ) is a municipality in northern Slovakia with 1118 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to Okres Martin , part of the Žilinský kraj and is part of the traditional Turz landscape .

The village is located in the middle of the Turčianska kotlina basin at the confluence of the Blatnický creek and the Turiec . The town center is located at an altitude of 420  m nm and is 10 kilometers south of Martin .

history

church

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1230 as terra Pribouch . It was originally a rural aristocratic village and was located on an old road from Neutra County . There was a post transfer point here and county meetings took place in the village. In 1783 a Protestant Latin school was founded here. One of the three tobacco factories in what is now Slovakia was founded in 1812.
