Dolný Kalník (Hungarian Alsókálnok - until 1873 Alsókelik ) is a municipality in northern Slovakia with 293 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to Okres Martin , part of Žilinský kraj , and is part of the traditional Turiec landscape .

geography

The municipality is located in the northern part of the torrent basin (Slovak Turčianska kotlina ) in the catchment area of ​​the Turiec . The town center is at an altitude of 433  m nm and is five kilometers from Martin .

Neighboring communities are Dražkovce in the west and north, Záborie in the east and Horný Kalník in the south.

history

The later place arose on a piece of land that was called terra Obusk in 1255 , after a man named Obusk who received the land in an act of donation from Béla IV . Dolný Kalník was first mentioned in writing in 1375 as duo Kalnok , after it split from the original place Kalník. In the 18th century the village was owned by the families Szenessy and Rakovský . In 1785 the village had 11 houses and 78 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 10 houses and 79 inhabitants who were employed as farmers.

The place in Turz County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 , after which it became part of Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

The name is named after the murky (Slovakian kalný ) water in the local stream.

population

According to the 2011 census, 101 people lived in Dolný Kalník, 99 of them Slovaks and one Czech . One resident gave no information about ethnicity .

35 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church and 34 residents supported the Evangelical Church AB. 30 residents were non-denominational and the denomination of two residents was not determined.
