Today's Pucov was founded in 1550 under Wallachian law and belonged to the Arwaburg until the abolition of serfdom in 1848 . In the 17th century, Pucov was devastated several times in the course of the Kuruc uprisings , and especially bad harvests set in motion several waves of emigration. In 1828 there were 105 houses and 551 residents who were employed as farmers, cattle herders and stonemasons.
The place in Arwa County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then became part of Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. In the time of the first Czechoslovak Republic there was a saw and a blacksmith's shop, and weaving was common in the village.
