Augustinus Hendrik Marie (Guus) Albregts (born November 22, 1900 in Vught ; † June 8, 1980 in 's-Hertogenbosch ) was a Dutch university professor and politician ( KVP ). He was briefly Minister without Portfolio in the Cabinet of Willem Drees .

Life

Albregts initially worked as a teacher for the first 20 years of his career, including 1926–1945 at the Roman Catholic Lyceum in Hilversum , and from 1929–1945 also at the Technical High School in Utrecht . From 1932 to 1937 he studied economics at the Catholic Business School in Tilburg , where he also received his doctorate in 1948. This was followed by an extraordinary professorship for international economic policy at his place of study from 1949 to 1951. From 1945 to 1951 Albregts was both general secretary of the Catholic employers 'association AKWV and director of the association of Catholic employers' associations.

In March 1951 Albregts was appointed Minister without Portfolio and from then on dealt with affairs of the middle class, public company organization and productivity increases in the whole economic life. Together with Minister of Economics van den Brink, he initiated a sales ban for Sundays and working days from 6:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., but exceptions were permitted. In September 1952, however, Albregts returned to science and continued his old work in Tilburg until 1970. In addition, he was also chairman of several economic councils and represented on a number of supervisory boards.
