Guys 'n' Dolls
Guys' n 'Dolls , also Guys' n Dolls and Guys & Dolls , was a British vocal and pop group that was particularly successful in the Netherlands , in addition to its home country .
Band history
The singing group Guys 'n' Dolls was founded in late 1974 and initially consisted of the singers Thereza Bazar, Martine Howard and Julie Forsyth as well as the singers David van Day, Dominic Grant and Paul Griggs. The 1975 album Guys 'n' Dolls was a small success in England , the accompanying single There’s a Whole Lot of Loving made it to number 2 there and number 7 in the Netherlands. The following single, Here I Go Again, placed in the top 40 in the UK. Then Bazar and van Day left the band and founded the pop duo Dollar .
The remaining four members released the album The Good Times in 1976 , which reached number 4 on the Dutch charts. The released song You Don't Have to Say You Love Me rose there, but also in the top 10 in England. Stoney Ground then only made it into the UK top 40.
In 1977, Together , another top 10 album was released in the Netherlands. The single You're My World even climbed to the top of the NL charts. Mamacita on rank 5 and Angel of the Morning on rank 14 were other hits there in the same year. With How Do You Mend a Broken Heart (1979) and Broken Dreams (1982) the band reached the Dutch Top 20 again, Our Song (1980) was one of the last top 10 successes there.
Martine Howard, who had separated from the formation in 1981, henceforth worked with the singer Rob de Nijs. Later releases of the Guys 'n' Dolls could not build on earlier successes. Then the group separated in December 1985. Julie Forsyth and Dominic Grant formed the duo Grant & Forsyth , Paul Griggs became a soloist and founded a music publishing company .
