Location from Siatoutanda to Ptolemy

Siatoutanda ( Greek  Σιατουτάνδα ; Latin Siatutanda ) is a place name used by Ptolemaios in his Geographia (Ptolemaios 2, 11, 12) set of coordinates created around 150 as one of the places (πόλεις) in northern Germania , near the sea coast , namely as the second westernmost place between Flevum and Tekelia with 29 ° 20 'longitude ( Ptolemaic longitudes ) and 54 ° 20' latitude.

localization

So far, according to Ptolemy, the place in Germania magna could not be reliably located. An interdisciplinary research team led by Andreas Kleineberg, who re-examined and interpreted the Ptolemaic coordinates from 2006 to 2009, is currently locating Siatoutanda in the area near Lathen in Emsland in Lower Saxony .
