Ouirition
Ouirition also Virition ( Greek Οὐρίτιον ; Latin Viritium ) is a place name that Ptolemyos used in his Geographia set of coordinates created around 150 as one of the places (πόλεις) in northern Germania , near the sea coast , with a length of 41 ° 00 '( Ptolemaic longitudes ) and 54 ° 30 'latitude.
localization
So far the ancient place could not be located with certainty. An interdisciplinary research team led by Andreas Kleineberg, who re-examined and interpreted the Ptolemaic coordinates from 2006 to 2009, is currently locating Ouirition in the area near Czlopa (Schloppe) in Poland . After this localization, Ouirition was on an important west-east route of the Germania magna, the Hellweg .
