The Vilshofen grammar school is a grammar school in the town of Vilshofen on the Danube in the Passau district in Lower Bavaria .

history

With the Latin school in Vilshofen, from which the grammar school emerged, the school can look back on 700 years of history. Knight Schweiker I. Tuschl was named a schoolmaster for the first time in 1343 in the foundation letter of the Vilshofen Citizens Hospital . The register of the University of Vienna included a number of students from Vilshofen during the 15th century, as well as from the University of Ingolstadt, which was founded in 1472 . The Forkwerkhaus , on the site of today's corner house in Donaugasse No. 1 , was converted into a schoolhouse for Latin lessons in the 15th century by then Mayor Peter Preu. In 1853 the Latin school was abolished and converted into a "mere" holiday school. From 1875 the school functioned as a middle-class secondary school and day training school. From 1909 it was possible to transfer from the two-class secondary school to a royal secondary school. Girls were allowed to attend classes at the educational institution from 1919. In 1957, headmaster Karl Wild obtained the construction of the new school building in Professor-Scharrer-Strasse for the Vilshofen secondary school . The school was converted into a state high school in 1965. Since then, numerous architectural extensions and modifications have followed.

Since 1985 there has been a regular student exchange with the partner school Lycée Marie-Joseph in Trouville-sur-Mer in Normandy ( France ) and since 2009 with the Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School near Boston ( USA ).
