A Hälsingehof is a farm or a former farm in the Swedish Hälsingland countryside . Today there are still around 1000 Hälsingehöfe with cultural and historical value. Seven of them - Kristofers in Stene, Gästgivars in Vallsta, Jon-Lars and Pallars in Långhed, Gammelgård Fågelsjö , Bommars in Letsbo and Erik-Anders in Asta - were as Swedish cultural monument in the list of in July 2012 World Heritage of UNESCO added.

The courtyards are examples of the country's folk building tradition based on timber construction . What is remarkable is the size of the buildings, which were often built on two floors with abundant decorations. They served as a residence for several generations at the same time. The courtyards were created in the style of the 18th century.

The house decorations can be seen, for example, in profiled roof bases , carved or sawn window frames and artistically designed house entrances. The interiors are partly well preserved with wall paintings, stencil paintings and wallpaper. The pictures show biblical motifs, transferred to the neckline environment, but also funny stories, mixed with Kurbits paintings with flowers and ribbons.

Many parishes had their own design, and the various features were mostly expressed at the house entrances, especially at the exits . In some communities, especially on the coast, the front stairs were missing, instead there were more expensive stairs and door frames.

The courtyards also included farm buildings, freely placed outside the courtyard. Each building had its own function. Barns, stables forges, wash houses and dry houses for grain.
