Hèvremont (outdated: Heverberg ) is a hamlet belonging to the Belgian municipality of Limbourg , in the former Duchy of Limburg , on the road that connects Goé and Stembert .
description
The hamlet consists partly of houses built in local limestone . Worth seeing are the ferme des Goronnes from the 18th century and the ferme du Pré le Maire from the 17th century. The construction of a chapel , applied for from 1730 onwards, could only be realized in 1802. It is consecrated to St. Francis of Assisi and saved the citizens the long ways to worship in the neighboring communities. The altar from 1684 was made by the Liège sculptor Jean Del Cour (1627–1707) and comes from the Premonstratensian Abbey de Beaurepart in Liège, which was desecrated and dissolved during the French era . The altar bears the coat of arms and motto of the Abbot Ambroise de Fraison.
A few meters from the chapel there is a wooden cross on a stone base. The base originally belonged to one of the captain's columns that served as waymarks in the High Fens . An inscription in German and French refers to the lord of the Lathof Castle Stockem ( Eupen ), Arnold Hauptmann, whose son Bartholomäus had the columns erected in 1566.
Between Goé and Hèvremont there is an aqueduct that was built at the end of the 19th century to supply Verviers with the water from the Gileppe dam, which was then newly built .
