Héctor Cincunegui , full name Héctor Carlos Cincunegui De los Santos , (born July 28, 1940 in La Bombonera , † October 13, 2016 in Montevideo ) was a Uruguayan football player .

Player career

Defensive player "Piolín" Cincunegui was a member of the Danubio FC squad from 1958 to 1964, which was in the Primera División until the second division in 1960 . He then played for Nacional Montevideo from 1965 to 1968 . His club won the Uruguayan Championship in the 1966 season. From 1968 to 1973 the Brazilian club Atlético Mineiro was his employer. His team secured the state championship in Minas Gerais in 1970 and victory in the Campeonato Brasileiro de Futebol in 1971 . 1974 followed an engagement with Sport Recife . In 1975 he returned to Danubio and finally ended his career there.

National team

Cincunegui was a member of the senior national team of Uruguay , for which he completed 18 international matches between July 24, 1963 and February 2, 1967. He did not score an international goal. He was part of the Uruguayan squad at the South American Championship in 1967 , in which the Celeste, supervised by Juan Carlos Corazzo , won the title.

In 1994 he worked as an interim trainer for Nacional Montevideo .

Honors

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Atlético Mineiro, he was selected as the best right-back in the club's eleven of the century.
