Nikolaus Georg Gabriel Gahrtz

Nikolaus Georg Gabriel Gahrtz (born October 19, 1791 in Wismar ; † June 20, 1830 there ) was a German lawyer.

Life

Gahrtz was the son of the innkeeper and wine merchant in Wismar Johann Franz Gahrtz. He attended the Große Stadtschule Wismar until 1809 and then studied law at the universities of Heidelberg, Jena, Berlin and Rostock. In Heidelberg he became a member of the Corps Vandalia Heidelberg . In the course of the student unrest surrounding the Heidelberg Senior Citizens' Convention , he had to sign the Consilium abeundi on August 11, 1810 and was given a consilium on September 14. He spent eight days in Heidelberg prison twice ; he received his last prison sentence for a duel with Guestphalen Westerhoff. Gahrtz continued his studies and student life at the University of Jena , where he became a co-founder of the Landsmannschaft Vandalia Jena, from which the original fraternity was to emerge in 1815 , and stayed there until Michaelis 1811. He spent the winter semester of 1811/1812 at the University of Berlin and became a member the Vandalia Berlin. In April 1812 he moved to the University of Rostock to support the Rostochia in Rostock, and finished his studies.

After participating in the war of liberation as a lieutenant with the Mecklenburg-Schwerin volunteer riding hunters from 1813 to 1815, he was in Leipzig until 1816/1817 and then returned to Wismar. In 1818, he was awarded a doctorate by the University of Kiel for his dissertation on marine insurance law. jur. PhD. He became a lawyer in the law firm in Wismar and in 1826 Stadtfiscal .
