Héctor Mendoza

Héctor Mendoza Franco (born July 10, 1932 in Apaseo , Guanajuato , † December 29, 2010 ) was a Mexican screenwriter , dramaturge , theater director and director and university professor.

biography

Mendoza studied political and social sciences, Spanish literature and theater studies at the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and attended the theater school of Yale University from 1957 to 1959 on a Rockefeller Foundation scholarship . He received further scholarships in 1953/1954 and 1963/1964 from the Centro Mexicano de Escritores and in 1993/1994 from the Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (FONCA).

Mendoza taught at the university theater center of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and at the theater arts school of the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes (INBA).

He has received several awards, including the Mexican National Art Prize ( Premio Nacional de Artes ) in 1995 and the Salvador Novo Prize. Since 1994 he has been a member of the Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte (SNCA).
