history

The Hôtel d'Andlau was built for the Andlau Abbey . The architect was probably Martin Hasenbohler, who also built other structures for the abbey. During the revolution the building was sold to the niece of the abbess Madeleine Barbe de Landenberg . In 1807 the city of Sélestat bought the building to set up the sous-préfecture , which remained there until the fire in 1948. This fire destroyed essential parts of the interior.
